Winemaker Vintage Notes
“The 2013 harvest in Margaret River continued a run of excellent vintages with slightly above average summer temperatures and average rainfall. A range of winemaking techniques was utilised to produce the 2013 Ebony, including open-top fermentation, pre-soaking and post-fermentation maceration. Ebony is a classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz that best reflects its origin – Margaret River. The wine is produced with early drinking in mind and exhibits soft, fleshy tannins with loads of fruit intensity.” Julian Langworthy, Deep Woods Estate head winemaker.
Deep crimson in colour, the nose is a combination of expressive red fruits, dark plums, violets, chocolate and some fresh bay leaf. On the palate this medium-bodied Margaret River blend is bursting with plum and redcurrant flavours. The tannins are soft and approachable, lending length and regional structure.
