Cantina Valle Isarco is located in the Isarco Valley, the northernmost wine producing area of Alto Adige. The winery incorporates 135 families as grower members from 11 municipalities: Varna, Bressanone, Funes/Tiso, Velturno, Chiusa, Laion, Castelrotto, Villandro, Barbiano, Fié and Renon. Despite its short history, Cantina Valle Isarco has forged an exceptional reputation for high quality white wines, confirmed in 2016 when Decanter named the Aristos Kerner as one of its Top 20 Wines of the Year.
The youngest winery of note in Alto Adige, Cantina Valle Isarco was founded in 1961 at Maso Reinthaler. Following the initial winery being burnt down in 1962, it was then replaced by a new modern winery in 1975, located in the heart of the valley, at the foot of the Monastery of Sabiona. The 135 families provide fruit from 140 hectares of land under vine and benefit from altitudes ranging from 300–1,000m, excellent soils and the perfect climate for producing expressive white wines with wonderful individual varietal character. As a result of the steep slopes on which the vineyards lie, picking is done almost entirely by hand prior to delivery into the winery. Almost all the wines of made in stainless steel tanks in order to retain freshness and purity.
